Stay at Home Monday

I took off the week between Christmas and New Year's while Cas worked, so I experienced a week of being a stay-at-home mom. Monday was . . .

Hide & go seek in the closet -
Collin found out it is much harder to hide in his own closet -
A morning nap followed by a not-so-crowded trip to Costco & HEB and then an afternoon nap. Entertaining himself as I put away the food in the kitchen.

Monday was saying "no" a million times - such as, "No, don't open that cabinet."
Followed by this reaction -
A futile second attempt at the cabinet with all of his body weight -
You can just see the frustration, poor little guy -
I thought coloring might be a good distraction, but it didn't go quite as I had planned -
Collin preferred throwing the colors -
There were a few coincidental marks on the paper when they would skim by on their release -
Then he discovered the box + a few leftover crayons = a rattle
The masterpiece of my genius child -
I lost the dinner time showdown, at least initially. (Collin later finished the soup, but only after I started to eat it, and he would only eat it out of my spoon, not the baby spoon ... clearly he's in control!) Here is my bowl of homemade butternut squash soup getting cold while Collin eats the store bought, tasteless rice cake -
Then dropping the rice cake for mom to pick it up became a game. It took 2 rounds before I caught on -
Burning off dinner by cruising around the table -
Tracking down the dogs' ball -
And throwing it to them. Currently his throws go only a few inches, but we can't wait for the day that Collin and the dogs can entertain one another -
This is what happens when I tried to get anything accomplished around the house. As I carried the clothes from the dryer, Collin made his way to the laundry room right for the water heater. Clothes got dumped on the floor as I went to move him out of yet another potentially dangerous spot -
Finally a little walking practice to end the day on the shopping cart. He'll push it from the front - From the side -
Or from the back all around the house -
The day was fun but exhausting - I can't imagine how wiped out I'd be with more than one kid or if Collin didn't take naps.
