Collin has devised a way to ensure I sleep soundly when Cas is out of town for work. Before Collin was born, when Cas was gone it would always take me longer to doze off. I'd often fall asleep with the tv on to drown out normal house noises that seemed suddenly louder and more ominous when I was home alone.
But the past two times Cas has traveled for business, Collin has decided to have a little party in the wee hours of the morning. Not just a feed-me-and-put-me-back-down interruption, but a wide-awake celebration lasting at least an hour and a half. The only times he has done this - except for when he was a few weeks old - has been the night before his dad leaves. This ensures that I am the one to care for him, since we don't want Cas driving early in the morning on little sleep. And the following night when it's just the two of us and the dogs, I'm exhausted and easily fall asleep.
It's a highly effective strategy, but one I'm hoping does not become a set pattern.
