Sticks, Go Carts and Cow Feeding Firsts

In January over Collin's birthday weekend, we spent Saturday at the farm with our cousins from Florida and the rest of our Houston family.   Within seconds of exiting the car, Collin found a stick, and he could be found with one pretty much the entire rest of our time at the farm.

Before I knew a photo was being snapped, my true expression of concern at Collin's stick and the grasshopper was caputred . . . and then I posed as if I love nature and big sticks near my face -

While initially a little unsure of the go-cart, once they started moving, it was a highlight of the day for Collin -
Some of the family - birthday girl Stella, Cathy, B, Kirk and Trish from Florida and Melissa and Kirk
Kirk smiling but keeping an eye on Collin's unpredictable stick swinging-
Cathy became Collin's favorite person on this farm trip.  He'd yell like a monster with his stick and she'd yell back in gibberish.  He didn't stop giggling - or rolling on the floor laughing -
Practicing archery -
Checking out the fish Kirk and Stella caught -
Posing with the family.
Showing B a video of him feeding the giraffes at the zoo -
Stella humored him too -
Cas loved playing in this machine -
Snapshot of the farm - the guys (Dick, Kirk and Cas) in the background on their big boy toy, Cathy cracking Collin up, beautiful country air -
Despite an irritated eye, Collin is full of smiles as long as he had a stick in hand -
And a day at the farm isn't complete without feeding the cows.  This trip was the first time Collin remembered tossing them the food cubes, talking about it and the big black bull for weeks afterwards.

We enjoyed a beautiful winter day with family at the farm.  My brother and I grew up with great memories of jumping on stacks of hay, feeding the cows, fishing and of course, eating burgers at our family farm.  And it's wonderful to bring Collin to the farm and witness his delight at the same experiences coupled with the simple pleasures of a three-year-old and his stick!
